Paolo Debuque

Paolo Debuque (he/they) is a Filipino- and Chinese-American conductor dedicated to music as a liberatory practice. He is Founding Artistic Director of A Thousand Tongues, uplifting Asian-American experiences through music and story, and Artistic Director of Caritas Vocal Ensemble, serving the community through song. He also serves as Director of Music at First Universalist Church of Minneapolis.
A 2024 ACDA International Conductor Exchange fellow, he has served on the choral faculty of St. Olaf College and led programs with Luther College choirs, Minnesota Chorale, and Resonance Ensemble, and served as Chorus Master for Hymns of Bantu, featuring Abel Selaocoe and the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra. Paolo earned degrees from Swarthmore College and the University of Michigan and is pursuing a DMA in Conducting at the University of Minnesota.
