Our History

​Performing its first concerts in 2002, Caritas Vocal Ensemble (originally "Sacred Voice") came together as a response to 9/11/2001. We have always had a mission to spread love and kindness – through song, human connection, or raising funds and awareness for local organizations.

It’s our vision to expand the possibilities of a volunteer vocal ensemble, rooting vocal music in the community and contributing meaningfully to both.

With 13 singers under Artistic Director Paolo Debuque, Caritas performs a wide variety of musical genres, from early music to jazz.
As a vocal ensemble, we are grounded in chamber music, prizing the interconnectedness of our members, the nuances and intimacy of  interpretation that a smaller group allows, and strong individual artistry.
